What are Botox and Dysport?

Both Botox and Dysport are classified as neuromodulators.  Two other neuromodulators include Xeomin® and Jeuveau® (frequently referred to as Newtox).  Derived from neurotoxins, neuromodulators have been refined over the years to be highly effective in treating many medical issues, including migraines, excessive sweating, muscle spasticity, voice problems, swallowing problems, and more.

These treatments have also become vastly popular for their ability to inhibit wrinkle-causing muscles beneath the skin. By injecting measured amounts of Botox or Dysport into specific areas, Dr. Guy can safely reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and much more.

What Areas Do Botox and Dysport Address?

•Forehead
•Area between the eyes (glabella)
•Crow’s feet
•Platysmal neck bands
•Mid portion of the nose (bunny lines)
•Fine wrinkles around the mouth
•Chin dimples
•Frown lines on the corners of the mouth
•Large masseter muscles creating facial fullness

Who is a Good Candidate for Botox and Dysport?

If you are concerned with any of these issues, you are likely a suitable candidate for Botox injections. Dr. Guy treats both men and women in his clinic and even uses Botox himself. However, neuromodulators are not for everyone.

It’s vital to partner with a highly trained professional who can properly examine you. Have you ever seen someone with a heavy brow or angry look after Botox?  The reason is not that they received Botox but rather how it was injected.  This is where experience and training help.  You aren’t paying for Botox; you are paying for a result for the next 3 to 4 months.  Although many other providers offer neuromodulators, you will only achieve the most precise outcome from an injector who is highly trained and aware of the human facial structure’s many intricacies.

Dysport and Botox The Woodlands – FAQ

You should begin to see a remarkable improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, and more within several days after your injection. Typically, you will continue to see your results develop for up to 14 days; after this time, your results should last for up to four months on average. Watch: Why Didn’t Botox Last 3 months?

There is a common false belief that Botox makes people look “overdone.” While your Botox results will be visible, they will also be subtle. Dr. Guy has performed countless Botox injections and understands how to administer the correct amount.  In fact, when you meet Dr. Guy, see if you can determine where he has received Botox and Dysport?  You likely won’t even realize he has been treated since the results are so natural.

Botox and Dysport accomplish something that surgery does not.  They selectively inhibit muscle movement.  Surgery restores what is seen at rest, whereas Botox and Dysport correct active lines.  This makes Botox complementary to surgery and vice versa.  You can also choose to pair neuromodulators and dermal fillers to enhance non-surgical results. Dr. Guy would be happy to discuss your options to determine the best route for your particular needs.

There is a widespread belief that only women receive Botox. The truth is that many men who wish to improve their appearance and reduce fine lines and wrinkles receive Botox. Dr. Guy himself receives Botox at his own practice! View Our Gallery

Each manufacturer determines what a “unit” of each medicine does, and there is not a comparable relationship between unit amounts required for each treatment area. In other words, one unit of Botox is not the same as one unit of Dysport. You would need more units of Dysport to get the same result as Botox (although the price to get the final result is the same between the two).

There are subtle differences between Botox and Dysport, but many of these come down to patient preferences. For those patients who prefer Dysport over Botox, they frequently say the effects come on faster and last longer for them. It is also a great option if you’ve previously used Botox, but feel you are no longer getting as much of a result as you used to.

The cost of your treatment depends on the amount of serum used, the treatment area’s size, and several other factors. Dr. Guy and his team can fill you in on any pricing information after your assessment and consultation.

Botox is the most extensively researched injectable product of its kind. To date, there have been well over 500 peer-reviewed articles about Botox in scientific and medical journals describing its safety and effectiveness. It is approved for use in 95 countries.

Touch ups may be administered after two weeks or two months, depending on the patients’ results. Learn more by reading our blog: How Often Should I Get a Botox Touch Up?
